Successful research centers often begin with the vision of a single individual. Once a group of faculty members, students, and other researchers have come together, they can request recognition by the vice provost for research and graduate studies as an affiliated center. A center that has become firmly established can petition to become a designated center. All research and creative activity is highly valued at the University of Kansas.
