Leadership

Office of Research and Graduate Studies

The Office of Research and Graduate Studies (RGS) guides the overall Lawrence campus research agenda and encourages collaborative/interdisciplinary projects and programs. Steve Warren, Interim Vice Provost for Research and Graduate Studies, provides leadership for the research community on the campus. In addition, the RGS oversees:

University of Kansas Center for Research, Inc.

The University of Kansas Center for Research, Inc. (KUCR), a non-profit university-affiliated corporation that provides start-to-finish assistance with administration of sponsored projects to campus researchers.

The purpose of the KUCR is to catalyze research. KUCR staff submits and negotiates proposals for external support of research, instructional, and service projects on behalf of Lawrence campus researchers. They also craft institutional policy, inform the campus about national policy, conduct training programs, and provide information on funding sources. KUCR also facilitates technology transfer and communicates information about research to the public.

Resources

KU has a long and successful record of coordinating researchers and resources through integrative research centers and institutes. These centers focus on broad research programs with far-reaching consequences.

Reports & Rankings

Federal sponsorship is obtained largely through nationwide, peer-reviewed competitions, and reflects the quality of the university's research and its faculty. Research at the University of Kansas has experienced unprecedented growth in recent years, with sponsored project expenditures outpacing national federal growth trends.
