Schermerhorn Cave: This cave is in a city park just south of Galena. It extends several thousand feet back into the hillside (or so we've been told). The Kansas landscape has a number of caves, so in working on Roadside Kansas, my co-author, Jim McCauley, developed the following policy: We will enter no cave we cannot ride through in a jeep. Schermerhorn Cave remains unexplored by us.
